R.Stuart - Bloggers Blend Pinot Noir
Written by shawn on date 22 April 2013 in Oregon Wine Country , Travel, Wine Regions, Winemakers
Have you ever wanted to blend your own bottle of wine? Blending my own wine is something I have thought a lot about over the years, Pinot Noir in-particular. Wine blending has been a frequent topic between my wife and I, to the point that despite being untested or proven, my wife believes I could blend well. I on the other hand am not so sure.
While attending the Wine Bloggers Conference in Oregon last August, I was honored to receive an invitation to join about 25 others by our very gracious hosts, Maria, and Rob Stuart of R.Stuart ...

Each Tuesday night on Cellars of Sonoma it has a variance level of excitment to me. The range seems to fall between wow, this is going to be awesome, to OMG Heidi Freaking Barrett is on the show tonight. Having the opportunity to listen in on vineyard owner Rick DuNah and winemaker Greg La Follette while drinking their wine is no doubt on the very high end of privledged Tuesdays. Both the DuNah and LA FOLLETTE labels landed on the Wandering Wino 2012 top wines of the year.
When I see a wine labeled as "Red Wine," I get very ...

When Cellars of Sonoma has winemaker Ted Elliot as a guest on thier Tuesday night show (6:00 PM), it is something special. He, nor the wine disappointed. For those wine enthusiasts that really like to follow some of the great names in wine, this is someone to add to the list.
Tuesday night Ted came on the live-stream with Scott Jordan to share about his wines as we tasted together and interacted with questions via Twitter. Ted said."I love aromatics in Pinots." I must say it is one of the aspects I appreciate so much about Pinot Noir ...

When it comes to winemaking and wine knowledge, well, lets just say it is not an even playing field for all. The range is broad and so is the quality of wines produced globally. Ted Elliot of T.R. Elliot is producing Pinot Noir that most anyone would be proud to bring to any dinner party, although many might not want to release a grip on this bottle.
Several of us had the opportunity to play an interactive role in a livestream on Cellarsofsonoma.com last Tuesday night at 6:00 PM. Ted learned to make wine under the watchful ...

What a fantastic live stream last night with Scott Jordon of Cellars of Sonoma, and his guest winemaker Heidi Barrett. You may know her name from many Napa cult wines, such as iconic Screaming Eagle. Scott poured the line-up of Heidis' La Sirena label while getting wine geeky. Great to be joined by fellow wine bloggers Jodi Fritch, Dan Goderis, Dezel Quillen, and Grace Hoffman.
We all had the opportunity to drink the La Sirena Calistoga (Napa Valley) Syrah with Scott and Heidi as they talked about the wines, and we asked her questions. The wines coming from Cellars of ...

If you are in wine country now, keep all of your senses alert. Harvest is now. If you visit most California wine regions, you can tell there is a lot happening. I've been to something like 11+ California wine appelations in the month of October and the same thing is happening everywhere. You can see it with the tractors driving on the main roads, and in some cases, loaded up with bins of grpaes, just harvested. It can be heard from the back of wineries, as barrels were filled, and fork lifts brought in grapes. It could be smelled ...
