Earth Day Wine Festival 2012 #EDFW12
Written by shawn on date 24 March 2012 in Wine Festivals
As the clocks change, wines are bottled, spring time arises, vine buds bloom, and the wine festivals begin!
Each "wine festival season" as I call it has a variety of events, focus, and in some cases a cause. March is coming to a close and April is fast approaching towards another "Earth Day." This particular day may not have a special meaning for some, however, this is a group that knows how to through a party, or shall we say wine festival. SIP, or Sustainable In Practice is an organization dedicated towards promoting vineyards/wineries that practice environmental responsibility among other aspects.
The 6th annual Earth Day Food & Wine Festival is held in Paso Robles at Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery on Saturday afternoon April 21st. The celebration will be inclusive throughout the Central Coast and showcase over 200 purveyors of award winning, sustainable produced food and wine. Growers, vintners, and chefs come together to serve delicious one of a kind dishes made with local fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, olive oils, and more.
General admission guests begin festivities at 2:00 and "Premiere Admission" fun starts earlier at 1:00. Earth Day Food & WIne Festival goers will have the opportunity to taste many fantastic wine/beer producers from up and down the coast including: Chamisal, Riverbench Vineyard & Winery, Hahn Family Wines, Halter Ranch, Laetitia Vineyard & Winery, Shale Oak Winery, Zenaida Cellars, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, and so many others. This is a rare opportunity to taste wines from multiple wine regions from Monterey to Santa Barbara's Santa Maria Valley.
While there will be no shortage of wineries pouring, food will be just as prevalent from some of the best local restaurants and caterers at this event. Just a handful are Apple Farm, Artisan, Thomas Hill Organic Bistro & Wine Bar, and many more. Visitors can eat and drink from some of the finest the region has to offer, all while visiting exhibitors like Bluebird Photo-booth, Artistic Woodcrafts, Slow Food, Len Designs Jewelry, and Oluv Skin. The weekend is loaded with events surrounding this festival like wine dinners, picnics, farmers market, and an after party. So get your tickets, grab a glass, plate, and get ready for one of the best wine parties around.
